Greetings food lovers! It’s that time of the year again when the days start getting shorter, the temperature starts getting cooler, but our grills are as HOT as ever. It’s also that time of the year when we celebrate the men and women who served our country and are still serving in the United States Armed Forces.
FiRE+iCE is proud to feed those who defend our country. So to thank them for their service, on Veteran’s Day FiRE+iCE Boston, Cambridge, Providence, and Anaheim are giving a FREE DINNER to every veteran or active duty personnel that present a valid military ID. All day Sunday November 11th for lunch and dinner we will be serving those who serve us, for FREE!
But our thanking doesn’t stop there! We will also be including a military discount along with our already popular College Night at our Boston, Cambridge, and Providence locations. Every Monday night starting at 4 p.m. military personnel are invited come in and eat dinner for $9.99 when they present a valid military, or college ID. So let’s start the week off right by honoring these brave men and women with some fun times and delicious food with your friends at FiRE+iCE! How can you go wrong with that deal?
FiRE+iCE would like your help in joining the fight against Breast Cancer. October is national Breast Cancer Awareness month and FiRE+iCE is joining the fight yet again! Our Boston location has chosen the Susan G. Komen Foundation to donate to, and in Providence we are partnering with the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation.
All month our Boston and Providence locations will be selling our FiRE+iCE Pink Ribbon T-shirts and Strawberry Shortcake dessert. All proceeds go straight to these amazing foundations. So Ficers we are asking for you to come in, eat great food and at the same time help these foundations to fulfill their promises to fight to cure breast cancer!

Hey friends! We’re doing a check-in deal for the next three weeks. From this day until the end of the month, we’ll be dishing out free trips to our sundae bar, AND you can take it TO-GO! Oh yes, this is the real thing. All we ask is you come grab lunch, brunch, dinner with us at our Boston FiRE+iCE and check-in via Facebook, Foursquare or Yelp.
Not only will you be making your friends and followers jealous with your check-in, you’ll also receive a dish deep enough to fulfill all of your sweet tooth needs, for free. Yup, we’re letting you create an ice cream creation and letting you roam with it. Sure, you can stay at our place and indulge, but why do that when you can explore? Take your free dessert and hit the streets. Chances are, your agenda isn’t too packed because you just had dinner, so walk off your meal while peeking into the shops and enjoying the fresh summer air.
Take advantage of the ice cream season while you can and get a little exercise too. Dawn your edgy dinner outfit and make your fellow pedestrians drool with ice-cream envy as you savor your free dessert. Did we mention all you have to do is check-in? I mean really… how can you pass this delicious opportunity to roam through Boston up? Don’t forget, that special someone you’re crushing on, probably loves ice cream and is dying to go on a date.
Well folks here we are. The weather is finally getting nicer. Normally I would be celebrating the end of winter, but lets be honest, it really wasn’t that bad. I am happy that we are now a little closer to beach weather and barbeques. The other day I was thinking about how nice it would be to hit the beach again when I happened to glance at my reflection.
No need to beat around the bush here people. I look paler than paper and scrawny as can be. I’m not terribly self-conscious, but I sure wouldn’t mind looking fit this summer. For those of you who are in a similar boat and looking to adjust your weight and perhaps get a little healthier in the process, I have some tips that have worked for me.
The first step is eating consciously. I have found that I will sometimes eat junk food unconsciously in front of the TV or even keep eating food on my plate long after I am full, just because it is sitting in front of me. Eating consciously means slowing yourself down if you are a fast eater like me. So basically, take a bite, put down the fork and enjoy the food before you take another bite. This way you are giving your brain enough time to send signals to your stomach. Over eating can also make you feel lazy and unmotivated after a big meal.
You will find that you are more mindful about the kinds of food you eat once you are eating consciously. I am not suggesting that you have to cut a single thing out of your diet (I know I didn’t). I am suggesting that you adjust your portions so that you are eating less fatty foods and particularly less processed sugars. Cutting down on empty calories like soda and overall junk food and replacing them with naturally sweet snacks like fresh fruits will make your stomach and waistline happy!
By eating consciously and getting more active outside as the weather gets warmer, you will be beach confident in no time!
Hibachi grills. There are many things about them that irk me, the first one being the shape. Rectangles, who likes those corners anyway? They’re dangerous and awkward looking.
Whenever I go to a hibachi grill I’m always scared for my safety, not because of how they cook the food but because they think they can throw hot food at my face. I’m sorry but I can barely catch a pen when it’s tossed to me, let alone a piece of steak hot off the grill rocketing towards my face.
After a few traumatic experiences at hibachi grills I discovered Mongolian grills. Yes I’d heard the rumors about Mongolian grilles being cheap mall food but it is most definitely not true. Circle grills are a never-ending loop of deliciosity and fun. I only realized the possibilities that come from Mongolian barbecue when I went on a family dinner to FiRE+iCE 10 years ago. This was the first time I experienced an Americanized version of Mongolian grilling, and for once the Americanized version wasn’t disastrous; it must’ve been the cute chefs making us laugh and teasing us for our ingredients.
Our generation is all about being catered to. We want to feel like every experience we have was made just for us. Luckily, this is precisely what we get when we grab our friends and head down for the famous College Night at FiRE+iCE.
There is nothing bad about piling your bowl up with every combination of ingredients you want. One of my favorites is bowtie pasta, mushrooms, spinach, chicken and of course fajita sauce. When you can stop your mouth from watering you can start calling your friends and plan your next Monday night, aka College Night.
I can’t be the only one sick of craning my neck trying to catch hot food when all I’m really trying to catch is a fun night out. Never mind that finding fun, cheap things to do in college is nearly impossible so it’s either rent or fun. If anyone else is fed up with these too you should try out FiRE+iCE, for a different and fun experience that won’t get you evicted.
Have you ever sat down for what you hope to be a productive study session only to realize that the unforgivable has happened? You know what I’m talking about, that awkward moment when you are emptying your backpack/pockets/purse looking for your headphones. How anyone is expected to be productive without his or her music is a mystery to me.
As a fellow music lover, I have always noticed the importance of my iTunes library when getting work done, for FiRE+iCE and for school. At first I just accepted it, and then one day, following a debate with my boss about what genre to play, I decided to look into what music does and why we react the way we do.
It turns out music can impact almost everything it depends on what you want the outcome to be, so I focused on productivity and performance.
One of the biggest speed bumps I hit while working is fatigue, that’s right people we get tired over here at FiRE+iCE! While we normally feed off each other’s ridiculous energy we sometimes need the extra help of music.
Studies have shown that listening to rock music in the background will speed up your recognition of visual such as letters and numbers. When we have research to do for Boss Man, we want to be able to recite stats at the drop of the hat.
We know we are not the only ones that work hard, which is why we work even harder to make FiRE+iCE a place where you can go to relax and forget about the everyday stress.
Upbeat music has been shown to take your mind off what stresses you and makes you a more positive person. On that note, we play happy music in our restaurants to turn you from a Negative Nancy to a Positive Pamela. So go ahead fill your bowl and sing along while you watch the chefs cook and sing with you, who knows, maybe you can even get a sing-a-long to “Party In The USA” going.
Whatever your sing-a-long choice may be, grab favorite karaoke partners and an appetite and come join us. Don’t worry about the playlist; we’ve got that one covered!
