Momma’s Kitchen

As a college student there is nothing I love more than a home cooked meal, but I cant really have my friends over every weekend for Mommy’s spaghetti and meatballs.

Something about cooking for a dozen people doesn’t make her happy, don’t ask me why. ;)

Getting that meal isn’t difficult, but getting it at a good price is always an issue. Whenever we go to fire and ice, my friends and I like to try and recreate our mom’s recipes but using what they have there.

Mind you, we are all college kids that have been living off dining hall food and indulging when we visit home. Our cooking skills range from placing takeout orders to pressing the buttons on the microwave.

To say our recipes are simple is putting it nicely, but hey that just makes this even better for you!

So heres my suggested recipe for your next fire and ice meal.

Bowties + Meatballs
Fill your bowl with : meatballs , bowtie pasta, Parmesan Cheese (yum) and our delicious Marinara Sauce.

Look Ma, I made a yummy meal and I didn’t even have to call you for help, or use Google. Taa Daa!

In the mood for something else?

Try our ..
Pulled Pork Sub
Chicken Picatta
Black Bean Mandarin Salad
FiRE+iCE Lasagna
Penne Con Pollo
Sweet Chili Chicken Burger
Spanish Paella

Its not mommy’s kitchen on a Sunday night, its better because I have my friends, my food and of course my cocktail. How can you go wrong with that?

FiRE + iCE First Timer

Getting Bar Happy

Summer has officially arrived in Boston – and I am hot. Hot as in, “wow it is a ‘scorcha out,’ not hot as in ‘I am the most beautiful human being to bask their presence on the planet Earth.’”

The weather has been ridiculously humid and to make it even worse, the air conditioning broke in my apartment. Fantastic. I can’t even take a stroll down Berkeley St. or Newbury St. without sweating profusely. Gross, I know. I feel like us Bostonians just can’t catch a break.

If you’re a beach lover like me, forget about it – everyone and their uncles and aunts are camping out and pitching their umbrellas to secure a spot in the sand.Honestly, all I really want to do on hot days like the ones we have been experiencing lately, is to chill at the beach with a nice cold one in my hand. But, that’s not looking like it will happen, considering I work everyday – as do the rest of us.

Luckily, after 5:30 p.m., when the work doors close and I am free like a bird, FiRE + iCE is still open. FiRE + iCE offers delicious chilling options on their iCE menu. Of course, you need be 21 or older to indulge in the alcoholic festivities, but F+I does offer non-alcoholic strawberry daiquiris,
pina coladas,
Lava Flow and frozen pink lemonade
smoothies: (peach mango, wildberry and strawberry banana). Auhhh-mazing.

Come sit at the bar, watch the World Cup and sip on some nice cold beverages from our iCE menu. I guarantee you’ll be smiling with a brain freeze. Check out or iCE menu or our Full Menu.

Fun’d Raising

Money, its what makes the world go round. In the non-profit world we see it as the jumping off point for the kinds of changes that the world needs.  It sounds easy, but the fact of the matter is, fundraising is difficult and sometimes we run out of ideas within our own organizations.

After the bake sales and raffles have been exhausted, we have found that restaurants provide the optimum environment for fundraising.  The new fundraising program at FiRE + iCE allows non-profits to raise money while being in a restaurant that is both delicious and perfect for all ages, thus making your fundraiser irresistible. We’ve had groups raise over $1000 by simply hosting a delicious meal at F+i!

To get started,  visit fire-ice.com/get-fund and select which location you’d like to host your fundraiser at. Download the application and return it to the restaurant. You can drop it off in person, email it, snail mail it or fax it.. we don’t care how you submit you application, so pick the easiest method for you.  Shortly after the application is received, a manager will call you to discuss the event details.

Once you finalize the details with our managers, you’ll receive a marketing flyer to promote your  fundraiser’s date. Now all you have to do is distribute the flyers to all of your supporters to promote your fundraiser. These marketing flyers are how Fire + iCE determines which diners have come to support your cause.  We’ll donate 20% of all proceeds generated by your supporters on your fundraiser date.

Fire + iCE takes care of the cooking and cleaning, you just have to promote your event. Fundraising used to be about car washes and raffling, these tried and true techniques can be productive but can also be boring. If your looking for a new fun(and delicious) idea that makes your cause stand out, check out our Get Fun’d Program.

Birthday Dinner

We all look forward to birthdays. They’re a chance to go out, and just enjoy the fact that we made it another year, and what better way than to have a birthday dinner in Boston.

The tricky part about planning birthday festivities in Boston is finding the perfect combination of location, price, and awesomeness. If your looking for a place to start off the night, with some dinner and drinks, near the clubs check out  FiRE + iCE.

This restaurant has an all you can eat concept and high quality drinks. The atmosphere is quirky and lively and the food is cooked in front of you while the chefs entertain you.

Once you’re ready to hit the club scene you don’t have to go far. Some of the best clubs in Boston are within a mile of the restaurant. Rise is around the corner and Royale, Rumor, Venu and Gypsy bar are under a half-mile away.

If those aren’t enough you also have Saint, Felt, Underbar, and Estate. The combinations of fun are endless!

No birthday dinner in Boston is complete without these basic necessities, a restaurant like FiRE + iCE, theres a parking garage near by that doesn’t close, a list of clubs to hit and a group of friends willing to take on this adventure with you. If you have those things, the possibilities are endless and you can let your imagination run wild!

Lunch In Boston

Having Lunch in Boston means one thing, choices. The choices here are endless. The options of cheap-unhealthy-processed fast food verses the over-priced menus of Boston’s Backbay restaurants can become mind boggling. FiRE + iCE Boston is your happy median. Located in the heart of the Back Bay, one of Boston’s most prestigious neighborhoods, FiRE + iCE provides the experience of a great fun and delicious Lunch in Boston.

Lunch at FiRE + iCE Boston is an experience of a lifetime. What better way to enjoy a meal and your money than by having whatever you want.  The FiRE + iCE menu gives you full control to select the ingredients and sauces that will be used to create YOUR perfect meal. Stocked and re-stocked throughout the day. All you have to do is take a bowl and pile it high with whatever you want. Leave the cooking to the experts, the chefs.

What better way to escape the hassles of work than by loosening up the tie, rolling up the sleeves, and stepping away from the computer and phone calls, than enjoying the fun and delicious experience of eating some food.

The FiRE + iCE menu has something for everyone. To help you get started I suggest a local favorite, the Tex Mex fajitas.

Grab a BOWL! Go to the Market and add peppers, mushrooms and onions. Head over to the meat section to add Steak or chicken to your BOWL. Or follow the vegetarian path by skipping the meat and adding some delicious tofu to your selection.

Head over to the sauce station and fill up a sauce cup with our one of kind fajita Sauce. Go to the Grill and watch your Fajitas sizzle. Warm Tortillas will be waiting for you at your table. ENJOY!!!

Now with a full stomach and some extra cash in the pocket and before returning to work or the hotel room, burn off the calories and enjoy the high end fashion and living of Newbury Street.

Spanish Paella

Chicken Picatta

Have you ever wondered how to make Chicken Picatta at FiRE+iCE?  Heres  a recipe your Nonna (your Italian grandmother) would approve of:

-Chicken Picatta

-Chicken

-Lemon Slices

-Roasted Potatoes

-Picatta Sauce

The word picatta is used to reference the way this recipe is usually prepared. The meat is sautéed and served with potatoes and covered in what can only be described as heaven, or picatta sauce as it’s commonly known as. Picatta sauce is usually made of lemon, butter, white wine and on occasion garlic.

Next time you’re at FiRE+iCE try adding some extra vegetables to your chicken picatta. My favorite veggies to add are onions, mushrooms and spinach.

If you are in a seafood kind of mood opt for shrimp instead and I guarantee you will be going up for seconds.

Vegetertians and Vegans don’t think you can’t enjoy this delicious meal;  just choose tofu instead of chicken. Still glorious and filling!
