We think of summer as lazy days filled with beach afternoons and boating trips. But it's also the season that could be called "The Invasion of Family," visitors who arrive with almost military precision in waves of threes or fours or even 10s. After a few heat-stroke cookouts, you need a break. Here are some brunch suggestions to fit any side of the family:
1. Fire & Ice 31 St. James Ave. Boston. 617-482-3473
2. Fire & Ice 50 Church St. Cambridge. 617-547-9007
Pulsing with color and neon lighting, Fire & Ice is a natural for kids - from very young to teens. After all, even the pickiest get to choose exactly what they want from a large selection of meats, seafood, and vegetables and then watch as the mix is stir-fried in front of them. Sauces tend toward generic rather than spicy, and there's no limit on how much you can eat. For adults, there's the bonus of some table service, beer and wine, and a fairly low tab.
